As an online instructor, how do you plan to incorporate news items and announcements? What resources would you reference to format news items?
Create an example of a News Item and share the example in your blog. If the News Item includes a video or interactive, please share the link or, better yet, use an embed code.
Incorporating an effective class news system is part of effective communication and keeps all stakeholders informed. Class news items such as messages about synchronous sessions, deadlines, projects, and instructional units are just a few examples of news to disseminate and keep students engaged. The announcement page in the LMS also functions as news, just as grade reports, which should be sent out routinely. I will also prepare for more personal news such as a personal note about a student’s progress in class. Online instructors should refer to their communication guidelines to determine how and when to send news, but they should also determine what form their news should take.
